Jeremiah 31:31-34

“Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, not like the covenant that I made with their fathers on the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, my covenant that they broke, though I was their husband, declares the Lord. For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people. And no longer shall each one teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord, for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.”

1 Peter 2: 9-10

“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthold, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light; which in time past where not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtain mercy, but now have obtained mercy”

Good to have you here again today and as you know, today’s teaching would be the last on our six weeks series on COVENANT. Together we shall look at the conclusion of the above topic however; I encourage you to go through all the teachings on covenant for full and better understanding. Starting from where I left off last week the question was ‘what is your spiritual birthright? To answer this question I shall look into three rights of every believer amongst many others.

  1. Direct Access: Romans 5:2 “through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God.” (NIV) According to the above scripture, through Jesus Christ, you and I have access, entrance and introduction by faith into the grace that is a state of God’s favor in which you and I firmly and safely stand. It might interest you to know beloved that a child of the most High God enjoys unlimited access into an indescribably position of favor with God, in other words you have an unreserved approach to God. Ephesians 3:12 says “Because of Christ and our faith in him, we can now come boldly and confidently into God's presence.” (NLT). Child of God, as a result of Christ work and your union with him, you now have the unspeakable privilege of entering into God’s presence; (1) at any time; (2) in full confidence of being heard; (3) without any fear of rejection plus full liberty to speak to Him in prayers.

  1. Joint Heirs: Romans 8:16-17 “The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.” As a child of God not only are you an heir of God but you are also a joint heir with our Lord Jesus Christ; that is to say you do not only get an inheritance for being a child of God, you also share in whatever God gives to Jesus as an inheritance however, the clause there is that you must also be a partaker of Jesus’ suffering. Having said that, it might interest you to know also what Ephesians 3:6 says about your right as a child of God. “This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus.” and hear what Galatians 4:7 says “So you are no longer a slave, but God's child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.” Wahoo! I say a resounding hallelujah! Do you feel what I feel right now? Just to know that your membership into God’s family brings you privileges that boggles the mind; as an heir, you will eventually inherit all of God’s promises. Child of God, this is bigger than inheriting your earthly father’s estate if any.

  1. You have a Seal: Ephesians 1:13-14 “In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation—having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God’s own possession, to the praise of His glory.” Child of God, a seal indicate ownership and security; simply put, God guarantees your inheritance through the promised Holy Spirit which is the seal to your salvation. As a purchased possession, 1 Peter 2:9 declares you a royalty “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” In Exodus 19:5 and 6 God promised this very same privilege in 1 Peter 2:9 to the nation of Israel if they would obey him ‘Now then, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be My own possession among all the peoples, for all the earth is Mine; and you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words that you shall speak to the sons of Israel.” Israel could not totally enjoy this promise because of disobedience however, that will change at the time of their redemption. Child of God, you have been chosen before the foundation of the world to belong to Jesus Christ according to Ephesians 1:4 “For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight in love.”

I therefore announce to you dearly beloved that you are not of earthly race like Israel; you are a heavenly person with a divine parentage and spiritual resemblance. You are not only a heavenly personnel, you are also a holy priest whose duty it is to offer spiritual sacrifices. As a priest you have the right to enter the sanctuary of heaven by faith to worship and go out as royals to witness. Child of God, it is God’s intention that you should be a nation distinguished by holiness so you can enjoy your full birthright in his new covenant and may this be your utmost desire in Jesus name. Until next week, MAY

HIS JOY FILL YOUR HEART...
