Galatians 3:13
“Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is everyone that hangeth on a tree.”
Matthew 15:13
“But he answered and said, every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted shall be rooted out.”
Dearly beloved, today God has instructed me to teach about curses, and by the leading of the Holy Spirit next week's devotional will be the conclusion of this liberation message. God will be dealing with this issue through several scriptural dimensions.
What is a Curse? A Curse is a formula, a charm, an expression of a wish or evil pronouncements intended to cause misfortune, evil or doom to another person or an intended target. In Numbers 23: 1-8, the bible records that Balak the king of Moab hired Balaam a disloyal prophet to curse the children of Israel and for this to happen the prophet requested for seven alters to be built and serviced with blood however verse seven says ‘And he (Balaam) took up his parable, and said, Balak the King of Moab hath brought me from Aram, out of the mountains of the east, saying come, curse me Jacob, and come, defy Israel.’ Dearly beloved, Balaam used incantation by speaking into an oracle called a parable in other to curse Israel. When an evil word is spoken, an evil spirit or a demon goes before it and activate its potency.
A curse can become generational in nature when placed on an individual either by grandparents, parents, relatives or a former loved one, or by any person especially when spoken in anger. In Genesis 9: 1-25 the bible speaks about how Noah got drunk from his own cultivated wine and became naked and his younger son Ham on seeing his father’s nakedness, instead of covering him up laughed at him. This act of scorn from a once beloved son provoked the anger of Noah, however something worth taking not of happened. In verse 24-25 the bible says “And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him. And he said, cursed be Canaan; a servants of servants shall he be unto his brethren.” If you notice child of God, Noah did not say cursed be Ham but instead he said curse be Canaan; why would we say this? And who is Canaan? Here is the answer! Noah was so furious with his younger son that he cursed his generation unborn. Canaan was the last born son of Ham and a grandson of Noah he was the father of the Canaanites, he became the recipient of the curse why because he was dearest in Ham’s heart because he was Ham’s last born Genesis 10:6 ‘And the sons of Ham; Cush, and Mizraim, and Phut, and Canaan.’ what about Jacob in Genesis 49? we'll hold that and many more for next week.
Dearly beloved, when a man is under a curse such a person can only operate in a certain circumference in life because of great limitations. A curse will bring a man’s destiny to a standstill. A curse will make a man to labor and not find favor. A curse will make help to be far away and nothing about such a person will be appreciated. A curse will cause a man to operate under closed heaven. A curse is a curse whether pronounced by law, by mouth, by oracle or by sacrifice etc. However there is good news. Galatians 3: 13 says ‘Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, ‘cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree’) same in Deuteronomy 21:23. Colossians 2:14-15 says, Jesus by reason of his blood ‘blotted out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to the cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.’ Hallelujah! Dearly beloved, No curse has power over you….. Cont Next Week
