Matthew 14:29-30
“And he said, come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying Lord, save me.”
Have you ever wondered why every time you get closer to your breakthrough you seem to be getting further away from it? Do you sometimes feel that each time you make a move for a positive change something else works against you? It is like whenever you are getting closer to your miracle something contrary happens. Dearly beloved, breakthrough does not just happen until you dare the unimaginable however, when trouble comes your way often times it feels like Peter’s situation all over again. You may not know where life is taking you right now; this may not have been how you planned your life, where you are now may not even be how you had imagined life to be, you may not have anticipated losing at every single attempt, neither did you ever think of failures, disappointments nor setbacks in every sphere of your life, dearly beloved whatever the wind is that is causing your sea to tossed with waves will make your footstep slide and soon you will drown in the storm if you keep looking upon the waves.
Sometimes in life one is tempted to place all energy and focus on the pressing situation so much so that what is at hand is neglected. Dearly beloved, if you focus so much on what is not working in your life, you will soon forget what is working because all your energy is geared towards what is not working and soon you’ll forget what God has done for you in the past and what he is still able to do. From the text above, Peter saw the wind and took his eyes of the master; but just so you know child of God, it was just wind. Dearly beloved, the wind is only a passage, the after effect may be great but it does not have a staying power it; comes and go. Psalm 23:4 says “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” Let me assure you today child of God that the wind will cease. Though you are in the midst of great troubles now that are as deep as the valley, as high as a mountain dark as a shadow and dreadful as death itself know this, that if you would not give way to fear but rely on the rod of his strength which is his word and his staff which is the grace of his spirit sooner than you think you will look around you and ask ‘where is the wind?’ And let me answer for you dearly beloved; the wind is gone praise GOD..
Remember Jesus was in the same sea wherewith Peter was sinking and before the wind could take him down Jesus laid hold of Peter’s hand soon as he called out on Christ. Dearly beloved God is very much present in your situation and when you take your eyes off your dire situation and call on God in faith, he will stretch out his hand for your rescue. His name is Jehovah Shammah according to Ezekiel 48:35 ‘He is there’; he is present with you now until forever and Psalm 46:11 assure you that ‘the lord of hosts is with you; the God of Jacob is your refuge.” The Almighty God is a strong refuge which no passing wind can destroy and in him you are safe.
MAY HIS JOY RULE YOUR HEART…
