Jeremiah 29:11

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

There is hardly anyone living that does not have plans in life, at least a plan every now and then. I hear people say all the time ‘my plan is to do this my plan is to do that.’ It doesn’t matter how great or small it is; a plan is a plan. A daily to do list is a plan; a monthly planner is also a plan. Pursuing a career, education, taking up a new job, starting a family, relocating, starting a business, taking over a family business etc. are all good plans however in spite of the plans one may have, God’s plan is better. A lot of times one is tempted to give up when a particular plan is not working; you may be one of those whose plans (aspirations or dreams) seems not to be working and you are tempted to give up; that is call it quits because of discouragement and just so you know Satan’s goal is to get you to do exactly that.

Dearly beloved, in life disappointments are inevitable but discouragement is a choice and the moment you yield to Satan’s debilitating whispers of doubt and fear what use to be an exciting aspiration and dream becomes a dragged out failure.

During a troubling time in Israel, God directed Jeremiah to speak words of hope and encouragement to the heartbroken people in exile (Babylon) to assure them that he’s got plans for them, and that is the same thing God is telling you right now even as you read this devotional. Isaiah 3:10 says “Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with them: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.”

Dearly beloved, God does not say what he does not intend to do and whenever he uses the phrase ‘it shall be,’ it therefore means that it will definitely come to pass; your case will not be different only be patient. We live in a falling world therefore disappointments, frustrations and deprivations will come but you can live above it by allowing your heart to be stayed on him. Verse 3 of Isaiah 26 gave an assurance that God will keep you in perfect peace if your mind is stayed on him by trusting him.

When God’s thoughts are in place in your life, no matter how troubled the water may be and no matter how challenging the situation may be you will definitely triumph because he makes all things beautiful in its time. Psalm 30:5 says “For his anger endures but a moment; in his favor is life, but weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” I encourage you to continue to wait on the Lord, keep his way and sooner than you think his plans for you will show forth.

MAY HIS JOY FILL YOUR HEART..
